With a lot of time and hard work, applied for and received a grant from Ontario Teachers Federation – ÒitÕs about timeÓ grant –allowing 12 teacher days – time to come together, plan and prepare

Focus was on renovating courses, with a goal of creating a holistic view of the high school experience

-        responsible independence

-        how to set and achieve goals

$400 allocated to teacher resources, focusing on books used in grades 9-11

Literacy – very important, linked in on the school website

Scored 88% on the literacy test last year

New this year – Moodle – an on-line course binder

-        all students were able to link into the literacy moodle to prep for the literacy test

-        students can try various quizzes that parallel the actual test questions, and admin can review the results to see who may need help

The school has a ÒStudent Success TeamÓ – this group of professionals spends a huge amount of time to help students succeed in a timely fashion

-        they meet with grade 8 teachers and get an early start on new student success

-        they set goals to improve grad rates and help students feel connected

-        they work on credit recovery, through after school programs, modifying timetables, completing at risk profile forms, to name a few examples
