Answer any ONE (1) of the following questions in formal essay format (5 paragraphs). The essay must include a clear introduction, thesis, 3 sub-topics, evidence and a conclusion. 

 

1.      “Future ages will wonder at us as the present age wonders at us now.” ~ Pericles.   Have the achievements and legacies of ancient Greece and Rome occurred as a result of change and innovation, or have these achievements been fostered by maintaining traditional ways and ideals?    Please refer to any three of the following in ancient Greece and / or Rome:  religion, government, laws, military tactics, trade, class structure, art / architecture, gender roles, education, wars or technology.


2.      The political developments that occurred in ancient Greece and Rome in many ways provided the foundation for modern day government and laws.   Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the political systems of Athenian Democracy, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire.  According to history, which was the most stable?
