Settlement of America - Concept Mapping Exercise

For the first exercise we are going to break into working groups and create Concept Maps for the early part of the text book.

We are going to examine the early settlement and establishment of what becomes the United States of America. 

Instructions:

1. Break into groups of 5

2. You will be assigned one of the following sections

   • America Before European Immigration - pgs. 4-7

   • Age of Empires - pgs. 10-14

   • The English Empire - pgs. 16-22

   • New Colonies - pgs. 24-31

   • Colonial Life - pgs. 36-42

   • The Struggle for Empire - pgs. 43-48

   • Growing Discontent - pgs. 50-61

3. As a group you are going to create a Concept Map using Smart Ideas on the computers in the classroom

4. You want to focus on the important information for the class

5. When you are finished the Concept Map you will be presenting it to the class.  You will also need to upload it to the Moodle so I can save them and post them to the website for everyone to see.

6. You will have 10 minutes max. to present so keep that in mind
