America's Growth and the Move to War
Instructions: We are going to examine the situation in the United States around the Turn of the Century in an effort to understand how they change and start to move towards war.
Important Themes/Events:
Imperialism - Pgs. 273 - 277
International Imperialism - pgs. 277 - 281
Theodore Roosevelt and Progressivism - Pgs. 286 - 294
An Imperial Power - Pgs. 294 - 299
The End of the Progressive Era - Pgs. 300 - 304
You are going to break into Five Groups. Each of the groups will examine a different issue as outlined above. The pages listed are from the text book but you do not need to rely solely on this resource. You will want to examine the major themes and be sure you include them in your short lesson to the class.
What you need to do:
You are going to create a short presentation (5-7 minutes) in which you will teach the major issues to the class. This information can be presented any number of ways.
For example: Role Play, PowerPoint, Smart Notebook, Smart Ideas - Concept Map, Song, Interview - Be Creative!
Think of the best way to bring the material to the
class in a way that they will remember. At the end of the assignment we
want to understand the changes the United States underwent at the turn of the
century and the mood just prior to the start of World War One.
