alliance made up by Germany and its allies (including Austria-Hungary and Italy)
also known as the "Central Powers"



Historical Significance
these alliances were supposed to keep peace in Europe, but ironically, it helped to trigger WW1
this is because war with any allied nation meant war with the whole alliance, making it dangerous if war were to break out anywhere in Europe
