Editorial – Holocaust
By Jennifer Yim
Adolf Hitler
was a man of hate. Hitler used his influence and power to twist the world into
what he thought it should be like. It didn’t matter what the cost of human
lives was or the consequences. Hitler brainwashed, forced, or killed anybody
and everybody that got in his way to the elimination of the entire Jewish race.
By the time World War 2 ended, 10 million Jews were killed.
The Holocaust was separated into 5
stages. Hitler was no doubt an evil man, but he was also very smart, cunning
and manipulative. His first step was to identify all the Jews by forcing them
to wear the Star of David on their arm and changing their names to either Sarah
of Israel. Then, the Jews had no rights, they were no longer considered to be
citizens of the country. All Jews were either fired from his job or had his
store taken away from him. At this point not that many Jews resisted thinking
that it was the worst that the Nazis would do. Isolation came and Jewish people
were rounded up were they were sent to the Ghettos and lived on streets. After
that, Hitler carted most of them to concentration camps were if you were strong
and useful, they would work you to death and if you were not, you were killed
immediately. Lots of elderly people and children were killed because they were
of no use. Then came the Final Solution, the Nazis wanted to wipe out the
entire Jewish race. Jews were put into gas chambers by the thousands when
shooting them became too expensive. Hitler had designed the 5 stages specifically
to break the Jewish’s people will and hope.
I think that Adolf
Hitler was a man of cruelty and that he is insane. His hatred for Jews might
have come from when he was little, his mother died of cancer and her doctor was
a Jew and Hitler blamed him for not giving her the right treatments. Hitler
blamed the Jews for everything to the loss of World War 1 and the great
depression. The Holocaust was very
inhumane and I think that everyone who was involved in it and even the people
who knew about it and didn’t stand up or speak up was at fault. But I
sympathize with the people who didn’t speak up or does anything because they
were scared that if they were found helping the Jews in anyway, they might get
send to concentration camps too. I greatly admire those who risked their lives
to do the right and humane thing to help the Jews in secret.
Never Forget
Screaming, begging, crying,
“Pack more bodies in!”
Hitler’s beloved Holocaust,
Was an act of pure sin.
Ripped by the hand of
Hatred,
From home and family.
Ordinary people like me and
you,
Died without a cemetery.
“Jews are Vermin!”
“Jews are Monsters!”
Jews were slaves,
While Nazis were masters.
“It didn’t happen…”
Murders may be forgotten.
Dead empty shells of a soul
long gone,
Buried without a coffin.
Lessons were learned and
Morals were taught.
The world could not forget,
How bravely the Jews still
fought.
History speaks truth and
compassion,
Never forget the Holocaust.
For the lives of 6 million
Jews
Were too high of a cost.
