Reigned from 1334 – 1323 BCE
Tutankhamun, more commonly known as King Tut, was the son of Akhenaton
He opposed his fathers beliefs on worshipping the god Aton, and set about to restoring the Egyptian religion and empire
King Tut died at the young age of eighteen, and due to his sudden death, he was put in the tomb of a member of nobility as his own was not yet constructed; this left no motivation for grave diggers to rob it

Religious Significance
Though he destroyed the cult of Aton and restored the religion of Amon-Re, King Tut is most remembered for the immense amount of wealth found in his tomb, such as jewellery, gold furniture and a solid-gold coffin by Howard Carter in 1922


Interesting Facts
Over the door to King Tut's tomb was an inscription that read "Death shall come on swift wings to him that toucheth the tomb of the Pharaoh."
  Curse or no curse? Lord Carnarvon, who had funded the search for King Tut's tomb, and archaeologist Howard Carter entered the king's burial chamber on February 17, 1923. On or about March 6, Lord Carnarvon was bitten by a mosquito on his cheek and became ill. Reported in the media, this event caused many people to jump to the conclusion that King Tut's tomb was cursed.
