World War Two Battlefield Exhibit

WWII is one of the bloodiest events in human history. Commemorating, studying and learning from monumental periods like this are an enormous challenge, but of such critical importance. This is our task.

We continue to build on our WWII Exhibit that attempts to capture the realities that people faced in the early 20th Century. We are providing a background for our students that will be visiting the Battlefields of France, Belgium and the Netherlands in November 2008.

The major components of the Exhibit are listed in the Tabs above. We are creating Museum panels, a model of Normandy, and developing various multimedia to memorialize the people and events of WWII.

Panels

1. Road to War
2. Early Defeat: Dunkirk, Paris
3. Support: Convoys, Keeping Britain alive
4. Battles: Dieppe
5. Battles: D-Day: Planning & Execution
6. Battles: D-Day: Canadians & Allies
7. Battles: D-Day: Land, Air, Sea
8. Battles: D-Day: The Beaches

The model recreates the D-Day invasion on the coast of France. The model visually shows visitors to our exhibit the unbelievable challenges that faced the allied soldiers as they reached the beaches of Normandy.
