Hi, my name is Mark Melnyk and this is my second term in the MET program. I took etec500 last term and thought it was quite useful, and met some really great people. It is nice to see some familiar faces and people that are also taking 520. I am currently on paternity leave with my daughter and enjoying every minute of it (other than all the studying)!

Professionally, I am the Head of History at Markville SS in Markham, ON, and love being a teacher. I had a big year before going on leave, winning the Governor General's Award for Teaching Canadian History and getting a big trip from Ade Clarkson (are any of them small? haha). I have a great department that believes in using technology and working together to better serve students. I also teach AQ courses at OISE UofT in the summer.

I like running, travel, hiking, soccer, golf, and anything else outdoors. I aspire to be an educator like my parents that just can't retire and are on international placement number 3, this time in Japan. Easily my favourite time is relaxing with my wife watching our daughter discover the world.
