LITER8  GOALS

The Program:  A Cross Curricular Literacy Approach
Liter8 is Markville's School Wide Literacy Program.  The premise is to build 8 literacy skills over 8 weeks in all subjects and grade levels.

Rationale

The development of a tangible school wide initiative that explicitly addresses literacy skills for all grades and learners in our school with the goal of supporting students in long term literacy. This program shows a progression of skills that is flexible for teachers and students across the curriculum. Enhanced student success can only come with all staff working together to increase student success and foster life long literacy skills.

2009

- 3 Day Blitz:  March 26-30
- Goals: 
1)  prepare students to format and process of OSSLT
2)  identify areas of strengths / weaknesses in writing OSSLT


Liter8 Schedule 07-08

1)  November 2007
- rollout Liter8 program to staff
-distribute "Gr82BLiter8" t-shirts to staff
- teachers create  Liter8 Sample Lessons to be posted in Teacher Area.
- Liter8 program starts week of November 12th:
- 1 skill per week in every class in school = 8 weeks

2)  February 2008 (Semester 2)
