Foreign Aid |
Summary The involvement of foreign aid is the assistance of a country to another in helping out either in poverty, underdevelopment, natural disasters, armed conflicts etc. Canada has helped out in many foreign aid affairs, one example is the Tsunami in 2004. The Red Cross began to fundraise $84,000 on aid and other donations such as plastic sheeting, jerry cans, water purification tablets and other needed items. Another example was the earthquake Saturday in Indonesia. A paramedic from Markham left Sunday to help bring food and care for victims of the disaster. Another man from Toronto, a police chief has joined the aid force in water purification. In 2005 Canada received 3.4 billion increase in foreign aid relief and are beginning to prepare for a better future in foreign aid. In 2010 the new aid program will focus on education, health issues (HIV/AIDS), and environmental sustainability. The image below is Canada's Red Cross helping out with Tsunami victims.

Historical Importance Canada has been involved with foreign aid affairs for many years now. Canada is claimed to be the fourth-biggest donor in the world. They have done a great deal in donating aid to other third world countries and even inner close states.
