Summary

Many events led to the war in Iraq, such as 9-11. Canada sent many troops alongside with Americans for a retaliation of the World Trade Centers attack. Canada is currently in Iraq fighting the war on terrorism and the prime minister of Canada just signed an agreement stating that Canadian troops will be in Iraq for another 2 years.



 

 

Historical importance

The war in Iraq basically began when the world trade centers attack occured, but its been going on since Operation desert storm which was a period of armed conflict in the Gulf war. Iraq has alot of oil and George W. bush wants to harness the oil to make money. Many Canadians have been sent to Iraq to fight the war on terrorism and many Canadians have died serving for Canada. Eventually the Americans found Saddam Hussein which was supposed to be the reason of the war, but the war in Iraq has not ended yet.
