| History Summary Quebec Referendum was held twice throughout history. In 1980 and 1995 the Quebec Separatists tried to separate with Canada. At both occasions Quebec Separatists were defeated by the “Non “side. Even though “Qui” had strong supporters, the sides were decided by narrow significance. Premier of Quebec René Lévesque (Parti Québécois) were in charge of the Soverignty for Quebec. Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (Liberal Party of Canada) was with the fedarlist in 1980 referendum to opose the Parti Québécois. Quebec tried to protect its own culture and believe that it will flurish finacially as well.

History Importance Quebec being on its own holds great importance because it was orginally a province, for it to do this is unheard of. Quebec’s decision to split with Canada would effect the world entirely. Quebec would become an indiviual country that could govern itself. Many people believed that Quebec would not be able to support itself due to the massive job losses and debt. Quebec’s separation would of split the english and french speaking Canadians apart. Quebec on its own would require trade and that would affect the world on a national scale.
