Summary

On April 6, 2006 Six Nations People were fed up and blocked railways and roads. Fighting to keep the government and developers from taking what little land they have left. Natives protesters claim that they land was a grant dated back to 1784. The government believes that the land was surrendered over for the construction of high way 6. Both protesters and government want it to be civil and not violent, setting up road, rail blockades. As time goes patience is running out. Acts of vandalism are rising, such as fires, and destruction of a major power tower. Leaving thousands with out power. Also stopping repair crews to reach the tour. Negotiations have been discussed but no conclusion yet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Historical Importance
 The six nations people having been living on this land for hundreds of years and deserve the right to there land. They have made compromises over the years such as passing the ability for highway 6 to be built.

Native people is an important part of Canadian history and Canadian culture. We should do out best to keep there culture alive, as they have for many years.  

No conclusion has been decided, negotiation are still in progress. The outcome of the Caledonian standoff is still up in the air and it can not be determined how it will end.
