Canada in the 21st Century: Famous Canadians
PAGE DEVELOPED BY: Evan Stoymenoff 2006 |
![]() Historical Summary The topic of this webpages is Famous Canadians. I like to talk about Canadians that make an impact not only in Canada but around the whole world. These Canadians are the ones I believe should be famous. I also like to talk about other Canadians who are famous and shouldn't be. These people are those who are just famous for a pretty face or for showing their opinion without doing anything about it but talking. Recently CBC created a television program The "Greatest Canadian" which has the viewers (Canadians) voting for their favourite Canadians. At the end of the day though Tommy Douglas became the greatest of them all and recieved the most votes. Others in the top ten include David Suzuki (5th) and Don Cherry (7th). I challenge this because it seems as though it is not the "Greatest Canadian and that it is the most famous Canadian.

Historical Importance There are many famous Canadians who are making a difference in the world, whether it be for military, economic, environmental or other reasons. There are also many Canadians who are not well-known that are making a larger difference. Most of these people probably deserve to be better known then our famous Canadians who I don’t believe deserve to be famous like Don Cherry, or Pamela Anderson. These people get way more than they deserve when it comes to exposure. When you think of it how much have they done for Canada, it is depressing. You especially notice this when you place them next to people like David Suzuki, or Tommy Douglas.
