MADRID & PARIS TRIP
MARCH BREAK 2008
Bonjour! Óla! This year the FSL/International Languages Department traveled to Madrid & Paris during the March Break. We shared our experiences with Maple High School, another York Region school, and new friendships were formed! Our trip began in the beautiful, old city of Madrid in the heart of Spain. The weather was perfect for our walking tour which included Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Espaňa. During our stay we visited the famous Prado museum, the Picasso museum and the Royal Palace – the biggest palace in Europe with 2800 rooms. Our students enjoyed a Flamenco evening and ate churros! We shopped at Mango, Zara, Sfera and other famous Spanish establishments! After three days in Madrid, we took an overnight train to Paris, France! The Parisian weather was not as accommodating but we still enjoyed touring the sights. We walked through the Louvre museum with the famous painting of Mona Lisa; the Sacré Coeur Basilica with the famous artists’ corner behind it. We watched these artists paint and shopped in the amazing Montmartre district of Paris which included the Moulin Rouge. We visited Notre Dame Basilica, and climbed both the Eiffel Tower and the Montparnasse building, and took some great panoramic pictures. We walked along the Champs Elysées and saw the Arc de Triomphe. We visited the Opera House, the Centre Pompidou and took a day tour to the incredible palace of Versailles! We ate crepes and enjoyed French cuisine. Four days later, our trip quickly came to an end but the memories will last a lifetime!! Merci et gracias to both schools for a wonderful trip abroad!!
